Special Occasions and Christmas 2009

This was our traditional hike to Kolob Arch trip we take every March. This was also when my birthday camera broke so yeah we only got two photos and some crummy video footage. We decided to hike to the river spot and camped out there. It was SUPER SUPER COLD! We only packed our light sleeping bags and only one skinny mat to lay on so we toss and turned all night because our sides would get sore from laying on the hard ground. Then after we woke up from that we fall asleep briefly but then only to wake up again to change positions. BURR! It was nice and warm in the morning so we hiked to the Arch and then hiked to the car. We did come out of this experience learning something new, that it is worth bringing heavier sleeping bags to make the time more enjoyable. :)

Our 2nd year anniversary trip to the cabin, this was taken near the bristle-comb pine tree trail.

This Christmas we decided to make our presents for Phil's family. I was taking a printmaking class and thought it would be cool to make a print of the Green Family Cabin. I also thought it would be cool to give each of them a copy as a gift. So the project began! I carved out the huge 2'x3' linoleum block, it was very time consuming but phew I made it! :) Next was printing them. Phil was able to come help me make the prints at the school, it was great I think he appreciated it more once he knew the process it went through to make it. After that was done Phil began making frames for them. He had fun doing that and I think he finished most of them in the course of 3 nights. All the Greens were over at our house for Christmas Day and we suprised them all with the print. It was such a great idea I hope we can do something similar again in the future.

For Christmas Phil and I like to go to homes where children are present so we went to Jeff and Adrienne's. Braden and Casen were so fun to watch opening their presents! When they came to wake us up Braden told us all about the note Santa had left and all the cookies that he had eaten. We didn't take many photos but here is one of Casen showing off his present.
